John Lewis has been in touch to let us know that it is launching a new home range for spring – and that includes the chance to design your own freestanding kitchen.
It says this means you have the chance to plan and select the kitchen you want – at an affordable price. This could be a great way to get the contemporary kitchen of your dreams without spending the equivalent of a second mortgage on it.
The range, which comes in cappuccino, white, black and burgundy options, offers a collection of separate, freestanding base and wall units which you can combine to form a practical, planned working kitchen.
Each unit is constructed from MDF core with a beech finish wrap and an integrated grey 40mm, high-pressure laminated worktop. The doors and drawers have lacquered gloss painted fronts (this is where you get to pick a colour) and brushed nickel-finish bar handles.
The units are easy to fit and take apart, so if you want to expand your kitchen – or even move the units to a new house – you can.
The retailer says this is an ideal solution if you have limited space or are looking for a more flexible and creative approach to kitchen furniture.
In case you’re wondering whether the freestanding kitchen approach is for you, there’s a detailed buyers’ guide on its website where you can get more information.
It should answer most questions you have, including describing the freestanding kitchens concept, giving advice on planning and fitting and reminding you of some points to consider.
